Welcome to Big Iron Ranch

Ever since I was a kid I knew that someday I would own a horse and cattle ranch. Now that I am pushing fifty this dream has became a reality with the opening of The Big Iron Ranch.

I have been driven by the belief that if you put out a great product at a fair price that it would sell itself. So I took this approach when I decided to start breeding quarter horses.

Even though you need good bloodlines and conformation, I believe that temperament is the most important piece of the puzzle. We (my wife Jackie & I, along with our trainer Todd Henricks) have traveled all around the country looking for some great young stallions to start our breeding program with. We found Peppy Chex Ballou down at Alan and Kay Needle's place in Orange, California. Then we went to Jim and Kathy Knight of Knight Stables in Garden City, Missouri where we bought Sailin Starlight. Linda Holmes of (Holmes Cutting horses) sold us Nurse N Cat.

At the Reno Select Sale at the Snaffle Bit Futurity, we bought Hesa Cupfull from Ron Thompson of Whitesboro, Texas. We have also aquired Ricochet Smart Peppy, Whiz It Who and Peppy Coys Baby.

After another long search, we have managed to put together a small herd of great mares. They are own daughters of Playgun, High Brow Cat, Squeak Toy, As Smart As The Fox, Jacs Electric Spark, Smart Way To Go and Jac Daniels Neat.

Our goal here at The Big Iron Ranch is to offer good honest working horses(reiners, cutters and reined cowhorses) at very fair prices.

Thank you for looking
Hal, Jackie, Doug and Frank.
